Helicopter Questions

Q. What is Black EPDM membrane?
A. Black EPDM, Ethylene-Propylene-Diene-Monomer, is a flexible yet strong rubber material used in roofing since the 1960’s. It is the most widely used product for flat roofing today.
Q. What kind of roofs do you do?
A. We specialize in commercial/industrial flat roofs only.
Q. Do you do residential roofing?
A. No.
Q. Should I reroof, tear-off or repair my roof?
A. This has too many variables to answer here. Give us a call to assess your roofing needs.
Q. What is thermal imaging?
A. From a roofing standpoint, it is a non-destructive analysis of the roof providing information about temperature variation and moisture content. With proper use one can find possible poor conditions that exist under an existing roof assembly without cutting into that existing roof to find conditions that would otherwise go unnoticed.
Q. What kind of warranty do you offer?
A. Let’s start off by saying, “One that has a long track record”. We offer a 15 year with an option of 20 years for both material and labor. We have roofs that were installed in 1986 using EPDM and are still going strong! That is something to be proud of and hard to compete against in the roofing industry.
Q. How does your roof system fit into the “Green” of things?
A. This is a colorful question that can be answered in so many different shades.. if you will. The spectrum I see is that “if spending a dime to save a nickel make sense…then “Go Green”. The industry is full of ideas that have not proven to be what they claim and usually cost more than the savings they claim. Our roof system is environmentally safe, economically sound and is much easier to maintain.. then say…having to mow the lawn…on your roof!
Q. Does it matter if my roof is white or black?
A. Another colorful question. Quick and to the point. No. If you have the right amount of insulation, according to the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineer’s (ASHRAE) standards, it will not matter what color roof you have on your building. Some information makes the point that if you live in the southern states where you do not heat your building much of the year you could consider a white roof. Here in Chicago where we heat 6 months and cool 3, the opposite may apply, black would be preferable.
Helicopter Questions
Q. What does a helicopter have to do with roofing?
A. Nothing, it’s just fun to fly! On another note, the roofing company benefits by having the ability to provide a more accurate roof analysis which removes the risk of making uneducated decisions about how to service their roofs to our clients. It is a great marketing tool and great time saver. Did I mention, it’s fun to fly?
Q. What kind of helicopter do you have?
A. Robinson Raven II-R44. It has 4 seats (pilot plus three). It cruises at 135mph.
Q. Can I go for a ride?
A. Absolutely. Any client or potential client should feel free to request a ride. I fly frequently. Since we have our own restricted landing area (RLA) private heliport at our place of business it is very convenient to hop on board to go for a ride. I am always looking for company. It’s probably a chance of a lifetime.
